NEXTGEN Actioneers!

Elizabeth Warren has introduced a bill in the Senate to help address airplane noise. We strongly encourage everyone to contact their representatives in Congress to express their informed views on this matter.

Please note that FLAMC does not endorse, promote or lobby for any legislation.
We only work to fulfill our mandate to inform our community about the issues and provide them with contact information for our representatives so they can express their personal opinions regarding these vital matters.

We received the following from our Quiet Skies colleagues in New York State:  Senator Elizabeth Warren has introduced a bill which originated in the House, to help addressing the noise. This is important.

H.R. 976 was originally generated in the House Quiet Skies Caucus by Senator Lynch and co-sponsored by Mr. Krishnamoorthi, Mr. Ted Lieu of California, Ms. Eshoo, Mr. Raskin, Mr. Smith of Washington, Mr. Quigley, Mr. Sherman, Ms. Brownley of California, Mr. Lipinski, Mr. Lowenthal, Ms. Speier, Ms. Judy Chu of California, Mrs. Napolitano, Ms. Schakowsky, Ms. Bass, Ms. Norton, Mr. Suozzi, and Miss Rice of New York.

The bill directs the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration to enter into appropriate arrangements with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to provide for a report on the health impacts of air traffic noise and pollution, and for other purposes.

This is important because it lays a medical crisis foundation that will allow Congress to take some action on this grievous and badly designed NexGen flight path. If a health crisis is identified it trumps any legal standing the FAA uses to force this on us.

The National Academy of Sciences was set up by Abraham Lincoln (yes, That Lincoln) to provide congressional members with the scientific data they would need to pass responsible bills based on real facts. It was used to allow Congress to act against the tobacco industry. The scientists and doctors who are invited to sit on a committee are bipartisan and tasked with putting together a thorough scientific report to be delivered to Congress.

If after reviewing this information, you decide you want to support this legislation you can fill out the contact email for Diane Feinstein
