FAA Agrees to Work on Changing the Flight Paths But Continued Efforts by FLAMC Required to Achieve Victory
Through the efforts of Friends of Lake Arrowhead Mountain Communities (FLAMC), along with community involvement and the tremendous help of our elected representatives, the FAA has finally promised to address our demands to mitigate the impact of the SoCal Metroplex flight paths that have been severely impacting the economy and quality of life in our area.
We are pleased to announce the formation of Friends of Lake Arrowhead Mountain Communities (FLAMC) which is the combination of MovetheFlightPath.org and Quiet Skies Lake Arrowhead, part of the National Quiet Skies Coalition, www.nqsc.org.
Elizabeth Warren has introduced a bill in the Senate to help address airplane noise. We strongly encourage everyone to contact their representatives in Congress to express their informed views on this matter.
Planes ranging from the Boeing 737 to the Boeing 767 are expected to fly in and out of the proposed San Bernardino International Airport. It is not yet known whether those planes will follow flight paths over the mountain communities.
Citing concerns about airplane noise for residents in West Adams, Mid-City and surrounding neighborhoods, the city of L.A. is suing the Federal Aviation Administration to get a court to invalidate the routes jets now use to access Los Angeles International Airport.
The lawsuit follows complaints from residents in those neighborhoods who say planes are bearing down on their homes, causing a thunderous and constant commotion.
The city’s three-page petition challenges the FAA’s May 2018 publication and subsequent implementation of its “North Downwind” approach procedures to LAX.

Airports across the country have been touting record or near-record passenger numbers because of a robust economy, strong demand for air travel and relatively cheap airfares.
But Ontario International Airport is handling a passenger surge that is outpacing growth at other local airports in the last few months.
Passenger totals at Los Angeles International Airport increased almost 4% in the first 10 months of the year, compared with the same period in 2017. Hollywood Burbank Airport moved 12% more passengers in the first nine months of the year while Long Beach Airport saw an 8% increase in the same period.
